As a small capital, Ljubljana has a large selection of restaurants. You can choose from Slovenian traditional food, Italian pasta or pizza, Bosnian burek, or go more extreme and try some Turkish, Greek, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Argentinian or even Russian dishes. It is always a difficult decision for tourists to know where to go, especially because the restaurants with “tourist menu”, normally do not serve the best food in town 🙁
Where to eat Slovene food?
As mentioned already on this blog, if you want to try real Slovene food for reasonable prices, you better leave Ljubljana centre and head towards the countryside. “Gostilna Slovenija” is a brand that guarantees fresh Slovene home made and home grown food. Whichever region you go to in Slovenia, this brand guarantees you local food and travelling around the country you can taste a big variety od dishes. But do not be surprised if you get a full plate in front of you. All dishes can be big, so order them one by one if you are not a big eater 🙂
