After writing all about Ljubljana’s origin, sightseeing, accommodation and transport, I want to share with you a few more tips what else is there to see and do in Ljubljana, especially in summer time.
My favorite spots in Ljubljana
- Ljubljanica river: strolling along the river on a sunny day exploring numerous bars and cafés.
- Narrow cobblestone streets: just a few steps away from Ljubljanica river you can find ancient cobblestone narrow streets.
- Walk around the Tivoli park, short distance from the town centre.
- Central market: you should not miss Ljubljana’s picturesque lively market with fresh vegetables and fruits from Ljubljana suburbs. The best place to meet the locals and to taste (and buy) the delicacies of the region.
- While walking around the market, stop at the fish market for a fish snack.
- Every Saturday morning from April to October you can enjoy the art scene: numerous painters, sculptors, designers, ceramists and decorators desplaying their work along the Ljubljanica river (between Triple bridge and Cobbler’s bridge). Some offer also creative workshops on the spot.
- Sunday mornings are reserved for antique market along the Ljubljanica river.
- Rowing on Ljubljanica: You can hire a boat from Ljubljanica Rowing Club.
- Ljubljana castle and its view of the city: several footpaths lead to the castle, the most beautiful is Ulica na grad, which starts at the church of St. Florian on Gornji trg.
- Listen to the music and dance performances of the street artists at Preseren square.
- Lively café and alternative club night scene at Metelkova area.
