Lipica Stud Farm

You will find Lipica Stud Farm by the Italian border, in the picturesque Karst region. This ancient stud farm, named after the linden trees that we find all over the area (linden means « lipa » in Slovene language), was founded in 1580 when Archduke Charles of Habsburg decided to build a royal stud farm in the area. And ever since the pure bred Lipizzaners, known as noble and majestic horses, have been bred and selected at this farm.
