City break in Slovenia

Good thing about Slovenia being a small country, are short distances.  Instead of just one city, you can discover half of the country in just a few days.

Let’s see how to do it step by step:

1. Fly to the Ljubljana airport Joze Pucnik (direct flights from Paris, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Moskow, Skopje etc).
If your city of departure is not listed, try neighbouring airports like Zagreb, Reka, Pula in Croatia, Trieste and Venice in Italy, Graz and Klagenfurt in Austria.
If still nothing, there is a shuttle that connects Ljubljana with the biggest airports in the region.

2. To go to Ljubljana or any other close town from the airport, you can take a taxi, a shuttle or a bus. Taxi  to Ljubljana will cost you around 50 € (do not forget to negotiate a price before you get in!). Otherwise there are shuttles to Ljubljana or Bled waiting outside the airport, usually living once per hour for 9 € per person to Ljubljana. Or there is a regular bus line to Ljubljana nearly once per hour for 4.10 € per person.

3. Once in Ljubljana (hopefully you’ve booked your hotel in advance), you don’t need a car. Ljubljana is a small capital with less than 300.000 people. All major sights are in the town centre, so you can enjoy relaxed stroll and seightseeing at the same time.
If your hotel is out of town, there are regular city buses, but do not forget to buy yourself Urbana card to pay for your bus fares as well as for the entrance to the museums, town castle etc.

4. To discover Ljubljana on your own or with a guide (at 10 am every day), visit Ljubljana Tourist Office by the three bridges beforehand. They will give you maps as well as all other information what to do, where to go and where to eat in Ljubljana.

5. To visit other “must to see places” in Slovenia, you can take daily trips to different parts of Slovenia. Daily guided tours in groups (or private tours) are organised to the

– Julian Alps (Bled, Bohinj, Skofja Loka),

– Karst caves and the Adriatic coast,
– Soca valley,
– Logarska valley,
– vineyards in the East of Slovenia (Maribor, Ptuj, Jeruzalem),
etc.

All guides speak English, but other languages can be provided on your request.
