Farm Tourism
The "turistične kmetije": authentic Slovenia at its finest, combining local gastronomy and countryside living.
A LIVING TRADITION
Slovenia has over 300 certified farm tourism establishments, the famous "turistične kmetije". It's a national institution: Slovenian families themselves regularly visit for Sunday lunch or a countryside weekend. The half-board formula with farm produce is a true gastronomic delight.
Each farm is classified by apples (1 to 4), a system similar to hotel stars. The 3-4 apple farms offer comfortable rooms, sometimes with mountain view balconies, and a remarkable table d'hôtes. The products come from the farm: cheeses, charcuterie, homemade bread, fruits, honey.
For families with children, it's the ideal accommodation. Children can feed the animals, collect eggs, pick fruit. Some farms offer workshops: cheese making, herb picking, beekeeping. An educational and fun experience all at once.
